How to manage 'Newsletters' for your online store customers?

In this article we will see how to manage newsletters for your online store customers in URSify's shop admin.

Newsletter:

The 'Newsletter' menu in shop admin is used to send letters, information, updates regarding your online store to users' mail. In order to get newsletters users should subscribe by the following ways.

• By clicking 'Sign Up' in shop front.

• By clicking 'Subscribe' in shop front (bottom right corner of shop front home page).

Any one of the above mentioned ways will bring 'Newsletters' into activation.

If your users wish to know details or information about URSify then they should subscribe for newsletters.

The following parts are displayed in 'Newsletter' menu.

• Subscription Listing
• Newsletter list
• Add Newsletter

Subscription Listing:

The 'Subscription Listing' tab enables you to view your clients' newsletter subscription details such as clients' email, client group type, status of their subscription etc.

Editing a Subscription:

You can edit subscription by clicking 'Edit' control(button) in 'Actions' column of 'Subscription Listing' tab. This creates a new tab 'Edit Subscription' under which you can view the following fields. The fields marked with (*) are mandatory fields.

Subscription Email (*):

This is a read only field containing user's email information. Hence this cannot be edited and it is the email entered by user at the time of subscription.

Customer Group (*):

Choose the type of customer group in this field. By default there are two types of customer group namely 'Guest' and 'General'.

Subscription date (*):

This is a read only field displaying client's subscription date. This information is automatically captured by the system at the time when user clicks 'subscribe'. For example 2015-09-14 12:40:13 shows the year, month, date and the exact hour, minute and second on which a client subscribed.

User Subscription and Unsubscription:

Guest Users:

In shop front guest users can unsubscribe by clicking the 'Unsubscribe' link in email.

General Users:

The general or registered users can subscribe in shop front by the following ways.

In shop front click 'SIGN UP'. This prompts to enter email and password. Check the box(check box control) 'Sign up for Newsletter' to subscribe for newsletters.
Go to profile setting and check or uncheck 'Subscribe' to get subscription or get unsubscribed.

In shop front both registered and guest(non-registered) users can click 'Subscribe' in footer(bottom page of shop front) to get subscription.

Note that if registered users are logged in with their account then they can't view 'Subscribe' button control at the shop front footer, since they have already been registered for subscription.

Newsletter list:

The 'Newsletter list' enables to view your newsletters in terms of date on which your newsletters should reach your clients' email. You can view details such as 'Subscription Date', 'Client Group Type' and 'Status'.

Add Newsletter:

You can add the content of our newsletters in this tab. The following fields are to be filled with valid information. It is to be noted that the fields with (*) symbol are the ones that are to be mandatorily entered.

Customer group*:

Here you should select the client group to which our newsletters are to be sent.

Subscription date*:

This field enables to enter the date of subscription of your newsletter. Note that here you should enter only the future date.

Status*:

By selecting 'Enabled' or 'Disabled' you can enable the status of your newsletters. Your users cannot be able to get the subscription if this option is selected as 'Disabled'.

Content*:

In this area you can add the content that you desire to be published in your newsletter. This area also enables you to give various text formatting styles and also you can insert images, videos if required.

After giving all valid details click 'Save & View' to successfully save your newsletter. This redirects you to newsletter list page where you can see our added newsletter.
